This morning I went to the last footwear tradeshow. At least for a while I think. And I cannot tell how much I'm happy about that. Although there is hardly another business done by so many straight forward 'real' business people as footwear, there is also a certain atmosphere around these halls that I greatly despise. Everyone is copying everyone and worst of all no one is ashamed of doing so. Not the brands who display whatever rip-offs they've just done and not even the buyers who have no problem buying copied product from them to sell on the highstreet. I hate that!
I don't hate the skinny Italian girls running around the aisles in 24" denims so tight they must have been sprayed on. Or the Spanish guys wearing the most outrageous shoes with dark-blue suits (and of course sunglasses pushed back into black hair). Then there are the myriads of Chinese and Korean copy-cats holding mobile phones or digicams in the direction of every shoe on sight.
